FAQs

1. What is the soft start feature?

When the dimmer is turned on, it will slowly bring the lights to the set level over a period of around a second. This is designed to extend the life of both the lamps and the dimmer but preventing any spikes on startup.

2. How do I choose between trailing edge or leading edge?

In most dimming applications it is more desirable to use a trailing edge dimmer. Trailing edge technology ensures less EMI being generated in electronic transformers, is 100% silent, usually reduces or even completely eliminates high inrush currents into lamps or the electronics of the lamps, is generally capable of handling a larger maximum load (due to the lack of inrush current mentioned) and is in general more compatible with a majority of load types, including electronic transformers. There are however some applications or lamp types (especially some LED lamps) which specifically requires a leading edge dimming solution.

3. Can I use dimmable CFL and LED bulbs on the same dimmer at the same time? What about using dimmable CFL, LED, and incandescent or halogen bulbs on the same dimmer?

Maybe. Use of different types of bulbs on the same dimmer is determined by the dimmer design, and not all dimmers will be approved for use with different loads. Contact us for details.
